Basically I mostly listen to music by women, mostly local, though my interpretation of local is very qulla. My friend Cy Tulip calls it Riot Grrrl Twee, I think that's pretty accurate. Sleater-Kinney is my favorite band.
I listen to (and sing) different kinds of Jewish music, mostly liturgical music that that makes me want to cry or feels like I'm riding on horseback through a storm, or klezmr that's either instrumental or featuring women's voices.
I also like and grew up with Motown and I also listen to music that feels gay in a seventies, eighties, and nineties kind of way, such as Classic Mole or Albuquerque Soul.
I also love basic girl pop anthems!
And I'm listening to more and more shows on WCBN too, of course!
